Tunisian Court Postpones Trial of Businessman Marouane Mabrouk
The specialized criminal chamber for examining financial corruption cases at the Tunis Court of First Instance has decided to postpone the trial of businessman Marouane Mabrouk to January 8, in response to a request from the State Prosecutor's Office. The request was made to allow time for the prosecution to complete its procedures and present civil claims.
It is worth noting that the specialized criminal chamber had previously reduced the amount of financial bail required to respond to the request for release presented by Mabrouk's lawyers, setting it at 800 million dinars. This relates to the case filed against him, concerning the Tunisian government's decision in 2017 to lift the freeze on his assets within the European Union.
The case also involves Adel Ghrar, the former general manager of El Karama Holding, as well as former ministers, including former Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and former Minister of State Domains, Mabrouk Korchid.
