Tunis Capital Takes a New Step with the Signing of a Strategic Study Contract for the Restoration and Valorization of the South Zone of the North Lake of Tunis

Tunis, Tunisia - The Tunisian capital has taken a significant step forward with the signing of a contract for a strategic study aimed at restoring and valorizing the south zone of the North Lake of Tunis. Led by Al Buhaira Invest, a Tunisian-Saudi mixed economy company headed by Najib Ben Chikha, the project has been entrusted to the IHE-DTA-JADE consortium, with the participation of Hydratec, a subsidiary of the Setec group.

The DTA group, renowned for its high-quality urban planning studies, brings a unique added value to this mission. Its expertise in urban design and planning ensures an integrated approach, where the development of the lake's shores and the valorization of public spaces are part of a coherent and sustainable vision for Greater Tunis.

This mission mobilizes cutting-edge expertise in engineering, urban planning, environment, mobility, and smart city. Its goal is to reconcile urban development, ecological balance, and economic attractiveness of Greater Tunis.

Beyond its technical perimeter, the study is part of a national responsibility approach. The stakes are multiple: preserving and restoring the environmental balances of the lake, analyzing the potential for sustainable development of the south shore, proposing integrated and resilient development scenarios, creating new investment opportunities at the metropolitan scale, and supporting other structuring projects such as the Tunis BRT or Tunis Marine.

The signing ceremony brought together the main public and private stakeholders around a shared vision: making the North Lake a living and attractive space, serving the inhabitants of Tunis and La Goulette. For the residents, this project represents a concrete promise: improved water circulation, new public spaces, rethought mobility, and a healthier living environment.

By shedding light on public decision-making, this study opens the way to a sustainable transformation of Greater Tunis, where nature and urban planning reconcile to build a more balanced and forward-looking metropolis.
