The "Soumoud" Flotilla Continues its Journey Across the Mediterranean
The "Soumoud" flotilla, aimed at breaking the Gaza blockade, is continuing its journey across the Mediterranean and approaching Tunisian territorial waters, its organizing committee announced on Friday.
Background
The flotilla set sail from Barcelona on September 1 with the participation of activists from over 40 countries. It plans to arrive in Tunis on Sunday, September 7, before resuming its journey to Gaza.
Objective
According to its organizers, this initiative aims to mobilize Maghrebi and international civil society in favor of lifting the blockade imposed on the Palestinian enclave.
Call to Action
In a previous statement, the flotilla's leaders issued a call to captains, sailors, mechanics, and crews from Maghreb countries, inviting them to join the movement and put their skills at the service of this "humanitarian and noble mission".
Upcoming Event
Tunisia is expected to host a large gathering on Sunday in support of the flotilla before its symbolic departure to Gaza.
