Tunisian President Takes Action Against Crime and Economic Speculation
In a move reminiscent of similar circumstances, the Head of State has taken the initiative by chairing an important meeting that brought together the Minister of the Interior and the Secretary in charge of national security operations. During the meeting, the President expressed satisfaction with the results of large-scale operations conducted in the Greater Tunis area and its surroundings, which led to the arrest of numerous individuals involved in common crimes, particularly those related to drug trafficking.
The other aspect addressed, and of the utmost importance, concerned the outcome of raids carried out in various regions of the country aimed at combating networks of speculation and monopoly that have seen an unusual surge in recent times, resulting in price increases for consumer goods that harm both consumers and producers.
Once again, the President of the Republic emphasized that these actions are far from being a mere response to a specific situation, but rather a consistent policy of the State that will be pursued without hesitation until the definitive eradication of this price hike, which is deemed "futile and criminal".
It is worth noting that President Kaïs Saïed describes this policy as a genuine national liberation war, which has become a recurring rhetoric in his fight against corruption, monopolies, foreign interference, and the loss of Tunisia's economic and social sovereignty.
This terminology is used to highlight the imperative of ensuring social justice, reviving public services, and supporting disadvantaged classes in order to achieve the true objectives of the 2011 revolution, while putting an end to the dictates and conditional funding imposed by certain international institutions.
In this context, the President has prioritized the use of national resources and expertise, and has called for the prosecution of corruption, speculation, and monopoly, which he has consistently identified as the country's internal enemies and major obstacles to development.
To achieve this goal, the President has implemented a series of ministerial reshuffles, administrative accountability measures, and legislative frameworks aimed at reforming the State apparatus and combating corruption.
The President has also conducted numerous unannounced visits to the field, demonstrating that the country is waging a "national liberation war" on all fronts and in all regions, with the aim of restoring public services and dismantling networks operating in the shadows.
President Kaïs Saïed is convinced that it is essential to involve all living forces, particularly young people, in the reconstruction of the country and the development of a national project, with the goal of building a new Tunisia where everyone can live well.
