The "Pink Train" for Early Breast Cancer Detection

The "Pink Train" initiative is set to embark on its sixth edition on October 29 and 30 in Sfax and Tozeur, under the slogan "For you, the Pink Train is back," announced the National Office for Family and Population (ONFP) on Monday. This initiative aims to provide free breast cancer and cervical cancer screenings, as well as blood pressure and blood sugar tests, to women living in rural and semi-urban areas.

Objective and Activities

The objective of the "Pink Train" is to offer essential health services to women in need, while also raising awareness about the importance of early detection in cancer prevention and treatment. To achieve this, various awareness activities will be organized to educate women about the risks and consequences of breast and cervical cancer.

Schedule and Locations

The "Pink Train" will make two stops in the Sfax governorate:

  • Hanchya: Wednesday, October 29, from 8:00 AM to 10:40 AM
  • Ghraïba: Wednesday, October 29, from 12:50 PM to 3:30 PM The next day, it will stop in:
  • Tozeur-ville: Thursday, October 30, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM
  • Deguech: Thursday, October 30, from 11:40 AM to 2:30 PM

Partners and Participants

The ONFP's medical and paramedical team will be accompanied by volunteers and several partners, including:

  • The Tunisian Society of Radiology
  • The Tunisian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics
  • The "Hayet" association
  • The Salah Azaïz Institute for Cancer Diseases
  • The National Society of Tunisian Railways
  • Private laboratories
  • The regional health and family and population directorates of the two concerned governorates

This initiative is a significant step towards improving women's health and promoting early cancer detection in Tunisia. By providing free screenings and raising awareness about the importance of early detection, the "Pink Train" aims to make a positive impact on the lives of women in rural and semi-urban areas.
