US Ambassador Bill Bazzi Presents Credentials to Tunisian President
On November 21, Ambassador Bill Bazzi presented his credentials to President Kaïs Saïed at the Carthage Palace. "He will be the representative of President Donald J. Trump to Tunisia, working to advance US interests and further strengthen common American-Tunisian priorities in regional security and economic prosperity," according to a statement released by the US Embassy in Tunis.
The appointment of Ambassador Bazzi reflects President Trump's commitment to working with Tunisia to promote trade cooperation, eliminate threats, and project stability in the region, adds the same source. "Since the early days of American independence, the relationship between the United States and Tunisia has brought lasting benefits to the peoples of both countries, particularly in the areas of national security and counter-terrorism, trade and investment ties, and innovation."
Regarding his priorities for this next chapter in American-Tunisian relations, Ambassador Bazzi stated: "Under President Trump's direction, I will focus on increasing American exports, developing a fair and balanced trade relationship, assisting leading American companies abroad, strengthening our defense and security relationships, and supporting entrepreneurship that will create opportunities for both Americans and Tunisians."
