Once Again, Tunisia Reaffirms its Commitment to Regional Self-Reliance

The Tunisia of July 25th renews its uninterrupted commitment to the idea that countries in the Maghreb region should take charge of themselves, imagine, and implement their own solutions to their problems, free from any form of foreign interference.

President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, is deeply convinced that only the peoples of the Maghreb are capable of resolving conflicts between their countries or within different factions of the same people - as is currently the case in neighboring Libya - by demonstrating their ability to promote dialogue and consultation in the face of hate speech and sedition.

On the occasion of the tripartite meeting on Libya held earlier this week, Tunisia reaffirmed, through the voice of its Minister of Foreign Affairs, the importance of regularly operating "permanent tripartite political consultation mechanisms" with the aim of preventing differences.

Tunisia and Algeria are making every effort, under the impetus of Presidents Kaïs Saïed and Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to enable Libya to regain its role as a respected and valued partner in the process of building the Great Maghreb, as a unified entity whose contribution to the establishment of a new world order based on active solidarity and equitable development deserves widespread recognition from international bodies, particularly the United Nations.

The speech or message from Tunisia at the tripartite meeting in Algiers had the merit of recalling the need to "accelerate the political settlement process under the aegis and supervision of the United Nations".

Ensuring that the UN fully assumes its responsibility in reconciling the Libyans is an act of considerable value, especially at a time when several countries seem to have lost sight of the fundamentals of diplomacy and are instead opting for Wild West-style solutions that are currently in vogue.
