Minister of Interior Khaled Nouri Presides Over Annual Conference on Human Rights Approach
The Minister of Interior, Khaled Nouri, presided over the opening of the third annual conference on "Efforts to Strengthen the Human Rights Approach in the Interior Sector" on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. The conference was attended by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Interior in charge of National Security, Sofiane Bessadek, and numerous ministry officials.
Context of the Conference
The conference is part of the celebrations of the 77th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Minister's Address
In his speech, the Minister praised the constitutional anchoring of the principles and choices based on human rights in the Tunisian state. He emphasized the need to consolidate citizenship values while guaranteeing all fundamental rights, including economic and social rights, and the right to live in a safe, healthy, and balanced environment.
Digital Transformation and Human Rights
Mr. Nouri also highlighted digital transformation as a strategic choice for the ministry, aiming to improve the quality of services to citizens, reduce costs and time required for administrative procedures, and strengthen trust in relations with the administration at all levels: central, regional, and local.
Climate Change and Human Rights
The Minister recalled the importance of addressing climate change, which directly threatens the right to a safe and healthy environment. He emphasized the need to strengthen resilience and the ability to protect individuals from various threats, ensuring the stability and security of society.
Fight Against Crime and Irregular Migration
Furthermore, Khaled Nouri praised the efforts of the Tunisian state in the fight against crime and the management of irregular migration, while ensuring the protection of all persons present on the territory in accordance with the Constitution, national legislation, and international treaties.
Human Rights-Based Approach in Law Enforcement
He noted that law enforcement structures are now adopting a human rights-based approach, balancing border protection and the sovereignty of the law, while working to dismantle criminal networks.
Tunisia's Election to Interpol Executive Committee
Finally, the Minister highlighted Tunisia's election to the position of African representative on the Interpol Executive Committee, describing this achievement as historic and reflecting the confidence of member states in the competence and integrity of Tunisian security officials.
Recognition of Tunisian Officers
He also congratulated two officers of the Tunisian National Guard for their ranking in the first and third places during the 23rd session of the International Higher Courses in Romania, among 11 participating countries.
