Tunisian Football Federation Supports International Player Hannibal Mejbri After Racist Abuse
The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) has expressed full solidarity with international midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, who was subjected to racist insults on social media following Burnley FC’s Premier League match against Chelsea FC.
In a statement released on Saturday, the federation condemned the hateful acts and praised Mejbri’s composure and sense of responsibility in the face of what it described as “unacceptable” behavior.
“We have contacted Mr. Mejbri to offer moral support and to accompany him during this difficult period,” the FTF said, reaffirming its total solidarity with the Tunisian midfielder.
The federation also lauded Burnley’s “responsible” reaction, noting that the club publicly stood behind its player. It called on all football stakeholders and digital platforms to strengthen measures against racism.
Finally, the FTF emphasized the need to prevent a recurrence of such incidents, stressing that the fight against discrimination is essential to preserve the sport’s core values of ethics, respect, and inclusion.
