English Football Association (FA) Suspends Hannibal Mejbri for Four Matches
The English Football Association (FA) announced on Friday the suspension of Tunisian midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, a player for Burnley, for spitting on Leeds United supporters during a Premier League match in October. According to the FA's statement, the Tunisian international was referred to an independent regulatory commission after the incident occurred in the 67th minute of the match, which Burnley won 2-0. The player admitted to the charges, resulting in a four-match suspension. In addition, Hannibal Mejbri was fined £15,000 (approximately $20,000). Burnley, currently 19th in the standings, has lost five consecutive matches and will face Newcastle United, 12th in the standings, on Saturday.
