Belvédère Zoo Esplanade Set to Unveil its New Look

The esplanade facing the Belvédère Zoo is on the cusp of revealing its new face, as the renovation works on this central space are nearing completion. This project is part of a broader municipal initiative aimed at beautifying the site and modernizing its infrastructure to enhance the visitor experience.

Renovation Highlights

The construction site has enabled a thorough requalification of the public space through the complete refurbishment of the plaza's flooring and surrounding sidewalks. In parallel, the landscape has been carefully reimagined through new grassing operations and the planting of various ornamental species. From a safety and urban furniture perspective, concrete barriers have been installed along pedestrian paths, while new streetlights have been deployed to optimize nighttime lighting. The site has also been equipped with several wooden kiosks, harmoniously integrated into the landscape.

Ongoing Work

As visitors discover these new features, workers are still actively working around the fountain and adjacent basin near the main entrance of the zoo, where maintenance work is being carried out at a steady pace.

A Major Transformation

This significant transformation marks the final phase of a rigorous action plan. For context, the Tunis municipality had ordered the complete closure of the park at the beginning of April last year for a period of four weeks, a temporary closure necessary to carry out these extensive operations and restore the park's former glory as the green lung of the capital.
