Tunisian Textile Exports Expected to Exceed 7.5 Million Dinars by Year-End
The Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, has predicted that Tunisian textile exports will surpass 7.5 million dinars by the end of the current year, following the country's successful export of approximately 7 million dinars per year since 2010.
During her presidency of the ceremony celebrating the 19th anniversary of the creation of the "Monastir-El Fejja" Development Pole in the capital, she highlighted that the textile sector has experienced a qualitative leap, making Tunisia the largest supplier of professional clothing to the European Union. The country has thus exported over 9.7 million professional pieces, with a value approaching one million euros.
She also indicated that Tunisia ranks fourth on the list of European Union supplier countries for jeans products, with a market share of over 8%. She affirmed that these indicators have contributed to making the national industry an essential driver of the national economy and ecological transition, in addition to strengthening Tunisia's positioning on external markets, according to data published by the ministry.
On the occasion of the ceremony, a partnership agreement was signed between the Tunisian Federation of Textile and Clothing, the Monastir-El Fejja Development Pole, and the Textile Technical Center. This agreement aims to strengthen the sector's competitiveness, attract more investments, and support industrialists and businesses.
