Digitalization of Tazarka's Wholesale Market: A Step Towards Modernization
The municipality of Tazarka is implementing a digitalization system at the wholesale fruit and vegetable market, making it the first market in the Nabeul region to adopt electronic invoicing as part of the national strategy of the Ministry of Trade and Export Development. This strategy aims to progressively transition wholesale markets to digital platforms.
A Pilot Project for Modernization
According to Aref Nechi, a member of the local council of the Korba delegation and deputy of Tazarka, this pilot project represents a crucial step in modernizing commercial transactions, organizing distribution channels, and strengthening the transparency of exchanges. The digitalization of the market, funded at 80,000 dinars, is part of the fourth phase of the market rehabilitation program, which consists of five phases.
Previous Phases of the Rehabilitation Program
The first three phases have already enabled the modernization of infrastructure, including:
- The construction of a new 800 m² hall (650,000 dinars)
- The renovation of the public lighting network (180,000 dinars)
- The construction of an enclosure wall (70,000 dinars)
An study on the development of roads and internal networks, integrated into the national online public procurement platform, has also been finalized for an amount of 670,000 dinars.
A Model Experience for Other Wholesale Markets
The deputy emphasized that this initiative constitutes a model experience for other wholesale markets in the country, given that Tazarka is considered a major agricultural hub in the Nabeul governorate, occupying the first place in terms of commercial exchange volume.
Electronic Governance Program
In parallel, and as part of the national electronic governance program, the municipality has completed the construction of a House of Administrative Services, which brings together several public institutions, including:
- STEG (Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas)
- SONEDE (Tunisian National Water Distribution Company)
- Social security funds
- Tunisian Post
- Tunisie Telecom
- ANETI (National Agency for Electronic Certification and Trusted Services)
- Revenue Department
- Municipality
The necessary equipment and supplies have been delivered, and the center is expected to open as soon as the training of agents is completed, Nechi specified. This new space will offer citizens simplified and rapid access to administrative services, reducing travel between administrations for bill payments or retrieval of official documents.
