Parliament Approves Tax Break for People with Disabilities
The Assembly of People's Representatives adopted Article 123 of the draft law on Wednesday evening, granting people with disabilities a tax advantage for importing a tourist or utility vehicle. This benefit can be used once every five years for a car that is no more than ten years old and has a maximum value of 150,000 dinars, imported legally or obtained as a donation.
The Minister of Finance, Mechkat Salama, specified that the 2024 finance law already includes several measures in favor of people with disabilities and that an additional decree will soon be published to clarify these provisions. She emphasized the importance of maintaining the application of Article 23 of the previous finance law, recalling that no customs legislation refers to the concept of a "vehicle specially adapted for people with disabilities".
Article 123 was adopted with 76 votes in favor, 24 votes against, and 9 abstentions.
