Meeting Held to Discuss Construction of 120 MW Photovoltaic Power Plant in Tataouine

A working session was held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the headquarters of the Tataouine Governorate, under the auspices of the Governor of the region. The agenda focused on the project to build a 120-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic power plant in the Bir Khamsine area (Remada delegation). This project will cover an area of 200 hectares, with a total investment of around 80 million euros (approximately 250 million dinars).

The meeting was attended by representatives of the company Scatec, as well as regional and local authorities. Abdelkader Zghal, project manager and representative of the company, presented the technical details and the provisional schedule of the works, specifying that all necessary environmental and social studies have been finalized.

Beyond energy production, the project is part of a corporate social responsibility approach. The representative announced the implementation of social support programs during the construction phase, as well as annually during operation. In terms of employment, the construction site is expected to generate around 300 jobs, while about 20 permanent positions, intended for higher education graduates, will be created for the operation phase.

He ensured that the administration would do everything in its power to remove obstacles and accelerate the granting of permits to ensure the success of this strategic project.
