President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, Receives Japanese Ambassador

The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, received yesterday, December 2, 2025, at the Carthage Palace, His Excellency Mr. Takeshi Osuga, Ambassador of Japan to Tunisia, who made a farewell visit to the Head of State on the occasion of the end of his mission in our country.

Solid Relations Between Tunisia and Japan

The President of the Republic highlighted the solidity of the friendly and fruitful cooperation relations between Tunisia and Japan, and welcomed the results achieved both in the bilateral framework and in the mechanism of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), which Tunisia hosted the eighth edition in 2022, and to which it participated with a high-level delegation during the ninth edition held in Yokohama in August of this year.

Strengthening Cooperation

The Head of State reaffirmed Tunisia's willingness to further strengthen its cooperation with Japan in all fields, in order to open up new promising perspectives and contribute to the realization of joint projects. He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Japanese Ambassador to consolidate the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, which are celebrating this year the 70th anniversary of their establishment.

Mutual Confidence and Cooperation

On his part, the Japanese Ambassador emphasized the mutual trust that characterizes the relations between the two countries, and welcomed the course of bilateral cooperation as well as the historical ties of friendship between the two parties. He reaffirmed his country's willingness to continue strengthening its cooperation and expanding its investment projects in Tunisia, particularly in the field of infrastructure. He also expressed his gratitude for the support he received throughout his mission in Tunisia, which enabled him to fulfill his duties to the best of his abilities and contribute to the development of bilateral relations in the common interest of the two countries and their friendly peoples.
