Record-Breaking Tourist Arrivals in Jendouba, Tunisia

The Regional Commissioner for Tourism in Tabarka-Aïn Draham, Issa Marouani, announced that the land border posts in the Jendouba governorate (Maloula in Tabarka, Babouch in Aïn Draham, Jelil in Ghardimaou) have recorded unprecedented numbers of arrivals from January 2025 to the end of November, with over 1.4 million Algerian visitors. Projections indicate that this number will reach 1.6 million tourists by the end of 2025.

In a statement made on Thursday to the National Radio, Marouani highlighted that the Jendouba governorate is currently experiencing a significant tourist resurgence and unprecedented activity at the mentioned border posts. In November alone, over 182,000 Algerians arrived, representing a 74% increase compared to the same month in 2024.

Mr. Marouani predicted that the number of Algerians arriving in the Jendouba governorate will exceed 200,000 during the current month, confirming that 2025 is an exceptional year in terms of tourism statistics and numbers in Jendouba.

Regarding preparations for the school and university holidays, the Regional Commissioner for Tourism in Tabarka-Aïn Draham anticipated recording 3,000 resident overnight stays for the New Year's Eve celebrations. He specified that between December 20 and 31, the arrival of over 18,000 visitors and the realization of over 30,000 overnight stays are expected.

As for domestic tourism, he reported a strong demand for reservations, confirming that preparations were launched several weeks ago, coinciding with the holidays, and that inspection and control operations for tourist units have been intensified. He emphasized the introduction of special preferential prices for the holiday period, adding that reservations have been ongoing for some time and that there is a strong demand in this context.
