Tunisian Parliament's Health and Social Affairs Committee to Examine Bill on Dietary Supplements
The Health, Women, Family, Social Affairs, and Disability Committee of the People's Representatives Assembly will hold a hearing with the Tunisian Syndicate of Private Pharmacy Owners on Thursday to discuss a bill presented by 10 deputies on the dietary supplements industry.
The proposed law aims to regulate the production of dietary supplements in Tunisia by establishing quality standards to ensure the reliability of products available on the market. These standards cover manufacturing, packaging, storage, conservation, transportation, and distribution processes, as well as the obligation to provide clear and accurate information to consumers.
The bill, composed of 54 articles, applies to all stakeholders in the dietary supplements production chain, including companies and establishments responsible for manufacturing, as well as those selling or purchasing them online through e-commerce platforms.
According to the explanatory document, this legislative initiative seeks to protect the national industrial fabric from threats related to the lack of a regulatory framework governing this sector. It also aims to remove obstacles hindering its development and prevent informal participants from entering the market by establishing clear rules for market access. The text also aims to provide Tunisian investors with guarantees consistent with the new Investment Code, in order to stimulate further investment and conquer new export markets.
