WWF Renews Call to Protect Beaches and Marine Environment Ahead of Summer Season

North Africa WWF Renews Call to Preserve Beach and Marine Cleanliness

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in North Africa has renewed its call to preserve the cleanliness of beaches and the marine environment as the summer season approaches and with the increasing frequency of visits, highlighting that they constitute a rich ecological and aesthetic wealth.

In a statement released on this occasion, the WWF reminded that the abandonment of waste on beaches or in the sea not only threatens the beauty of the places, but also directly affects marine life, puts marine organisms in danger, and disrupts the balance of coastal ecosystems.

According to the data, more than 84% of waste present in the coastal marine environment is composed of polymers, mainly plastic materials. This makes plastic pollution one of the major environmental challenges that the seas and beaches are facing today.

In this regard, the Fund called on people to join the "Adopt a Beach" initiative, to be environmentally conscious, and to respect nature by avoiding leaving trash, using dedicated waste bins, and contributing to the protection of beaches so that they remain clean and safe for future generations.
