Investigation into School Bus Accident in Sousse

The public prosecutor's office near the Court of First Instance of Sousse 2 has ordered the detention of a bus driver and a maintenance manager following the accident involving a student falling from a school bus belonging to the Sahel Transport Company (STS). The legal representative of the Sahel Transport Company has also been summoned to appear in court.

The public prosecutor's office had previously authorized the opening of an investigation report with the Sousse North judicial police brigade.

It is worth recalling that a serious accident occurred on Monday evening in the Sidi Bou Ali region, involving a student falling from a school bus, resulting in severe injuries and a coma.

Local sources specified that the 13-year-old victim is a student at the Sidi Bou Ali college. According to preliminary information, he fell through an opening in the bus door immediately after the bus passed over a speed bump.

The same local sources added to Mosaïque that the student hit the edge of the sidewalk and was urgently transported to the Sahloul University Hospital. Medical sources described his condition as very critical; he remains in a coma and under respiratory assistance in the surgical intensive care unit.

The same sources indicated that the bus was in a state of advanced disrepair and had been the subject of complaints from parents due to the lack of maintenance and weak safety measures.

Mosaïque radio was unable to obtain clarification from the Sahel Transport Company, which refused to make a statement on the matter.
