Strengthening Academic and Scientific Cooperation between Tunisia and India

The reinforcement of cooperation and academic and scientific partnership between Tunisia and India, particularly in the fields of higher education and scientific research, was at the center of a meeting held on Wednesday at the ministry's headquarters. The meeting brought together the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mondher Belaïd, and the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Tunis, Devyani Uttam Khobragade.

According to a statement published by the ministry, the meeting also focused on consolidating partnerships between the universities and research institutions of the two countries. The discussions included the development of mobility and academic exchange programs, support for joint scientific research projects, as well as the sharing of expertise and experiences.

The Minister emphasized Tunisia's willingness to further consolidate cooperation with the Indian side, in order to respond to the priorities of national development and contribute to the improvement of the quality of higher education, research, and innovation. He highlighted the importance of benefiting from India's pioneering experience in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.

For her part, the Indian Ambassador expressed her country's desire to support and expand this cooperation to new horizons, particularly in biotechnology. She also expressed India's interest in Tunisia's national programs in these sectors and the resulting collaboration opportunities.

In this context, it was agreed to organize a meeting as early as next week to follow up on these points. The agenda will include:

  • Review of specialized training programs
  • Study of the project to create a chair of Indian studies at the University of Manouba, in order to strengthen the cultural and academic dimension of bilateral cooperation

This meeting aims to strengthen the academic and scientific cooperation between Tunisia and India, and to explore new opportunities for collaboration in various fields. The two countries are committed to working together to promote higher education, research, and innovation, and to contribute to the development of their respective nations.
