Agreement Reached for New Coach
An agreement was reached on Monday with the Stade Tunisien management board, and Ammar Souayah, currently abroad, will sign the contract and begin his duties upon his return to Tunis, expected by the end of the week. The Stade Tunisien management did not waste any time in finding a replacement for Lassaâd Dridi, who left his position on Sunday evening to manage CS Constantine. Lassaâd Dridi has indeed committed to CS Constantine for a salary of around 80,000 dinars.
New Coach Announced
On Monday, around noon, the name of Lassaâd Dridi's replacement at the helm of Stade Tunisien was leaked. It is Ammar Souayah, who will sign the contract and begin his duties upon his return to Tunis, expected by the end of the week. He will manage Stade Tunisien until the end of the season.
Sousse Training Session Postponed
The training session that was scheduled to start on Monday in Sousse, previously planned by Lassaâd Dridi, has been postponed until a new date can be fixed with the new coach. Meanwhile, Ammar Souayah has a lot of work ahead of him, as he will be tasked with validating the list of departures proposed by the club management and adjusting the recruitment needs according to his vision: "During the winter transfer market, the club will have to part with some players, while taking the time to carefully select elements to strengthen the team in certain positions," said Badreddine Nacef, the spokesperson for Stade Tunisien, in a statement to the media.
Different Versions of Events
Appointed on November 28 to replace Chokri Khatoui, Lassaâd Dridi abruptly left his position as coach of Stade Tunisien on Sunday evening. The departure is controversial, as both parties have given their version of the reasons for this premature divorce.
Club's Version
The spokesperson for Stade Tunisien, Badreddine Nacef, cited Lassaâd Dridi's failure to fulfill his commitments: "The large Stade Tunisien family is unhappy with Lassaâd Dridi's behavior, who failed to fulfill his commitments to the team." He added, "We were aware since last Friday of the rumors about Dridi's commitment to CS Constantine. These rumors intensified until Sunday evening, and Lassaad Dridi confirmed the truth of this information and expressed his urgent desire to leave the club."
Lassaâd Dridi's Version
Lassaâd Dridi, on the other hand, claimed that he lost the desire to coach in Tunisia: "After my departure from Etoile du Sahel, I planned that the next step in my career should be abroad. When the Stade Tunisien officials contacted me, I didn't want to say no because it's my club. But when I started coaching at Stade, working in Tunisia became more and more difficult, not just for me, but for all coaches. I thought this idea would disappear when I took over Stade Tunisien. That was not the case. I also want to clarify that, apart from CS Constantine, I already had two other offers."
