Spain Paralyzed by National General Strike
Spain is paralyzed on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, by a national general strike organized by the main trade unions and student organizations, in support of the Palestinian people and to denounce the genocide perpetrated for two years in the Gaza Strip by the occupation forces.
The unions are demanding that Madrid immediately sever all political, economic, and military relations with the Zionist entity, as well as impose firm sanctions. They are also calling for the redirection of military budgets towards essential social services, inspired by the South African model of fighting against apartheid.
This day of mobilization comes as a fragile ceasefire came into effect last week. However, the organizers claim that they will continue the protest actions until the end of all forms of cooperation with the occupation, denouncing what they describe as the inaction of the Spanish government in the face of the violations committed in Gaza.
The strike takes place in a context of growing popular anger in Spain, fueled by the recent attack by the Zionist entity against the "Flottille Soumoud", an international humanitarian convoy on its way to Gaza.
Key Demands of the Strike
- Immediate severance of all relations with the Zionist entity
- Imposition of firm sanctions
- Redirection of military budgets towards essential social services
- End to all forms of cooperation with the occupation
Context of the Strike
- Growing popular anger in Spain over the situation in Gaza
- Recent attack on the "Flottille Soumoud" humanitarian convoy
- Fragile ceasefire in effect, but organizers vow to continue protests until demands are met.
