Security Forces in Sousse-South Region Conduct Raid on Unregulated Warehouse
On Friday, May 22, 2026, security units under the Sousse-South National Security Region conducted a raid on an unregulated warehouse in Kalâa Kebira. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 540 kg of frozen liver stored in refrigerated rooms that failed to meet the applicable sanitary standards and regulations.
Initial Investigation Reveals Counterfeit Goods
Preliminary investigation data indicate that the seized goods originated from a smuggling operation from a foreign country. The Public Prosecutor has ordered the owner of the warehouse to be placed under guard pending further investigation and judicial proceedings.
Food Safety Agency Takes Action
Belkacem Kadri, Regional Coordinator at Sousse for the National Food Safety Security Agency, stated that the shipment of frozen liver, originating from New Zealand, bore an unauthorized label and was stored in unsanitary conditions. The agency has ordered the destruction of the entire seized quantity.
