Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy Inaugurates New Production Line at El Kanaouat
The Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, inaugurated a new production line at El Kanaouat's industrial zone in Enfidha (Sousse Governorate) on Monday. The project, with an estimated investment of 15 million dinars, aims to strengthen the company's production capacity and stimulate its exports, particularly to neighboring countries.
Inauguration Ceremony
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Hamadi Habib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Agriculture in charge of water resources, Sousse Governor Sofiane Tanfoury, El Kanaouat's CEO Hamed Ben Rebaha, as well as foreign experts from the Middle East, Europe, and Canada.
New Production Line and Job Creation
According to the Minister, the new production line will not only expand the company's product offerings but also create new jobs, adding to the existing 350 permanent positions. El Kanaouat has also launched the production of small-diameter pipes to meet the growing demand in the local market, with the goal of expanding its international market reach.
Integration of New Technologies
El Kanaouat is committed to integrating new technologies to improve the quality, control, and maintenance of its production, while reducing its energy consumption through the use of renewable energy. An integrated remote monitoring and control system is also being implemented to enhance the company's competitiveness.
Study Day on Modern Manufacturing Techniques
On the sidelines of the inauguration, the Minister launched the second study day organized by El Kanaouat on modern manufacturing and installation techniques for pressure pipes. Over 200 engineers, researchers, and experts from Tunisia, Algeria, the Middle East, Europe, and Canada participated in the event.
El Kanaouat's Role in National Industry Development
The Minister highlighted El Kanaouat's central role in the development of the national industry and the improvement of hydraulic infrastructure. Since its creation in 1980, the company has manufactured nearly 2000 km of pre-stressed concrete pipes, primarily for water transfer projects from dams and desalination plants, contributing to the supply of drinking water to urban, agricultural, industrial, and tourist areas.
Strategic Partnerships
As a strategic partner of SONEDE, ONAS, and STEG, El Kanaouat also collaborates with several private Tunisian and foreign actors. The company aims to consolidate its partnerships with other Arab and European countries to strengthen its role in the development of the hydraulic and energy sector.
