Preparations for the Global Resilience Flotilla's Departure Continue at the Port of Bizerte
Objective: Breaking the Gaza Blockade
The event is attracting activists from various nationalities and numerous supporters from the region.
Departure Delayed but Confirmed
Initially scheduled for September 10, the departure was postponed due to bad weather. According to Khaled Boujemaa, a member of the steering committee, the new date is set for Saturday, subject to the completion of administrative and customs procedures. Once validated, the ships will set sail successively towards Gaza.
A Fleet of 45 Ships
No less than 22 ships have docked at Bizerte after leaving Sidi Bou Saïd, which became too narrow to accommodate the flotilla. Other vessels from Spain and several Tunisian ports have joined the operation. In total, the flotilla consists of approximately 45 ships.
Activists from Around the World
The number of participants is estimated to be between 800 and 850 activists, representing 44 nationalities. Among them are volunteers from India, Pakistan, Latin America, Europe, and the United States.
A Humanitarian Message
Boujemaa emphasizes the purely humanitarian dimension of the initiative: "We have no weapons or military equipment. We are going with our bare chests to send a message of solidarity to the people of Gaza."
