Tunisian Education Association President Expresses Hope for Reform
The President of the Tunisian Association for Quality Education, Slim Kacem, expressed his hope on Monday, September 15, 2025, that the current year will be the one for reforming the educational system as desired by all. As a guest on the "Youm Saïd" show on National Radio, Kacem added that efforts to improve study conditions, particularly in terms of infrastructure and school supplies, are ongoing, and that the time has come to reform the educational system.
Key Points
- Slim Kacem emphasized the need for a horizontal reform of education, highlighting that the pedagogical aspect is only one part of the system's reform, but that organization and governance are also crucial.
- Kacem noted that Tunisia is now on the right path to adjust and return to the foundations of the Republic's school system, recalling that the country previously relied on an educational approach where teachers not only transmitted knowledge and information but also served as models and worked on building the human being.
Back to School
As of today, public educational institutions at all levels (primary, middle, and secondary) welcome 2,325,443 students. Kacem's statement comes as a new academic year begins, with a focus on improving the quality of education and addressing the challenges facing the Tunisian educational system.
