Six governorates on orange alert strong winds expected in Tunisia

National Meteorological Institute (INM) Issues Weather Alert

The National Meteorological Institute (INM) placed six governorates in the country on orange alert on Sunday, corresponding to a high level of vigilance. The affected areas are:

  • Béja
  • Siliana
  • Zaghouan
  • Bizerte
  • Kasserine The INM forecasts very strong winds, temporarily reaching 100 km/h in gusts, which may cause local sand and dust storms in the southeast of the country.

Meanwhile, the yellow color, indicating moderate vigilance, has been assigned to the governorates of:

  • Tunis and its suburbs
  • Le Kef
  • Médenine
  • Sidi Bouzid
  • Gabès
  • Kébili
  • Gafsa
  • Nabeul
  • Kairouan
  • Mahdia
  • Monastir
  • Sousse According to the forecasts, temporary stormy showers, sometimes intense, are expected in the far northwest, with occasional risks of hail. The INM recommends that the population take necessary precautions, avoid unnecessary travel, and secure objects that may be blown away by the wind.
