Seizure of Unfit Food Products: A Threat to Public Health

The President of the National Institute for Sanitary Security of Food Products (INSSPA), Dr. Mohamed Rabhi, announced that over 165 tons of food products unfit for consumption, posing a real risk to public health, have been seized since mid-January.

In a statement given to the National Radio on Monday, February 16, 2026, he specified that nearly 40 establishments failing to meet hygiene and safety standards have been closed as part of the control campaigns.

Dr. Rabhi also indicated that these operations resulted in the drafting of 263 reports for sanitary offenses and the sending of 238 written warnings to operators not complying with current standards.

He finally emphasized that this reinforced control program will continue during the sacred month of Ramadan, a period marked by increased consumption and heightened vigilance from health authorities.
