Regional Equipment and Housing Services Intervene in Siliana After Heavy Rainfall
The services of the Regional Directorate of Equipment and Housing in Siliana carried out a series of interventions in various delegations last night, Monday, following significant rainfall, particularly in the delegations of El Krib, Gaâfour, and Rouhia.
The Regional Director of Equipment and Housing, Mehdi Laouni, stated this morning, Tuesday, to the Tunis Afrique Presse news agency, that these interventions included clearing roads and removing debris and mud using construction equipment.
He indicated that the Gaâfour delegation experienced torrential rains last night, causing flooding in several homes and the collapse of a school wall in the El Akhawat region. Damage was also reported on a rural road in the same region (currently under construction by a company).
Laouni specified that technical teams went to the site to assess the damage. Preliminary findings showed that the recently constructed hydraulic structure was unable to absorb the amount of rainfall, causing damage to approximately 500 meters.
It is worth noting that no road closures were recorded, and traffic was only interrupted for a few minutes due to mud and debris on:
- Regional road No. 73 in the El Akhawat region
- Regional road No. 47 in Gaâfour
- National road No. 5
The swift intervention of the Regional Directorate of Equipment and Housing services helped to minimize the impact of the heavy rainfall and ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.
