School Violence Incident in Siliana
A serious assault was committed by a student against his physical education teacher using a knife at a school in Siliana, sparking widespread controversy on social media in recent days.
In a statement to Mosaïque FM radio, the teacher, Mouldi Falah, reassured listeners about his health condition, confirming that the wound was localized to the back of his head and did not pose a serious threat to his life. He received first aid on the spot before being transferred to a health center.
The teacher specified that the aggressor student is in 7th grade (equivalent to 5th grade in France or the first year of middle school) and is repeating the class for the fourth time, making him around 14 or 15 years old. He added that the incident occurred on Thursday during a normal class: the student entered the classroom while in conflict with his peers, and the situation escalated, leading to the use of a knife and injuring the teacher.
Mouldi Falah emphasized that the assault was unexpected, stating that he usually tries to have a close approach with his students, monitor their behavior, and provide psychological support to prevent any violent acts. However, he noted that the aggressor student had been involved in previous problems with the school administration and his peers.
He indicated that the student was arrested by security authorities immediately after the incident and that the school administration is taking the necessary legal and administrative measures, while ensuring not to compromise the student's future and giving him a chance to correct his behavior.
The teacher concluded his statement by calling on official authorities to take the phenomenon of school violence more seriously, emphasizing that this incident confirms the urgent need for awareness and early intervention with students to prevent such events from happening again.
