Sidi Bou Saïd Launches Urban Renewal Operation at Sidi Abdelaziz Parking
Urban Renewal Initiative Underway in Sidi Bou Saïd
The municipality of Sidi Bou Saïd has initiated an urban renewal operation at the Sidi Abdelaziz parking area. This initiative aims to replace the old, precarious installations that were severely damaged by the exceptional weather conditions that occurred at the beginning of the year.
In a statement published on its official page, the municipality clarified that the new structures were specifically designed to blend harmoniously with the unique architectural identity of the village. Featuring the iconic blue and white colors, these kiosks aim to preserve the aesthetic of this world-renowned tourist destination while providing dignified working spaces for merchants.
First Phase of Modernization
The project involves the installation of eleven kiosks in the first phase. This initial phase will be followed by the progressive replacement of the other market units as soon as the necessary funding is mobilized and the administrative procedures are finalized. The photos shared by the commune demonstrate a willingness to upgrade the public space.
Presidential Initiative
This operation is part of the implementation of the directives of President Kaïs Saïed. During his visit to the site on January 28, 2026, the head of state ordered the immediate removal of the damaged structures caused by the floods on January 19 and 20. The municipality is now actively working to transform these instructions into concrete reality, giving the Sidi Abdelaziz parking a face that conforms to the prestige of Sidi Bou Saïd.
