Short Film "Bord à bord" by Tunisian Filmmaker Sahar El Echi Selected for FIFF
The short film "Bord à bord", directed by Tunisian filmmaker Sahar El Echi, has been officially selected for the Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur (FIFF), one of the major events for francophone cinema in Europe. Projected in its Belgian premiere, this 18-minute film will be presented as part of the FIFF Campus 15+ section, a programming specifically designed for young audiences, addressing attractive, diverse, and current themes. Produced and directed in Tunisia, "Bord à bord" tells the story of Mounira, a thirty-year-old woman who makes a living from a food stand inherited from her deceased father. Located in a suburb south of Tunis, this place is largely dominated by men. Determined, Mounira shows a strength of character that allows her to overcome challenges and make her business work despite adversity. The film is in Tunisian dialect, with French subtitles, allowing maximum accessibility to the francophone audience. This is not the first time "Bord à bord" has made a name for itself on the international scene: the film was notably screened at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival in the "Regards d'Afrique" section and received a special mention at the Malmö Arab Film Festival. The film will be screened at the FIFF in Namur between October 3 and 10, 2025, alongside other works from all over the francophone world.
