Sfax, Tunisia - On Saturday, the Assembly of the People's Representatives (ARP) President Ibrahim Bouderbala inaugurated the first scientific days in Sfax, themed "Sfax, a Hub for Sustainable Investment," in memory of the late Dr. and Deputy Nabih Tabet. The event was held over two days and brought together deputies, experts, doctors, healthcare officials, businessmen, and regional officials, as well as representatives from national organizations and civil society.
Bouderbala Pays Tribute to Late Deputy Nabih Tabet
In his speech, Bouderbala paid tribute to the late Deputy Nabih Tabet, a former president of the parliamentary health committee, saying that the event was a gesture of loyalty and recognition of his legacy. Tabet was instrumental in introducing a bill on medical liability, which was eventually adopted after years of effort.
Bouderbala Highlights Tunisia's Historical Stages
Bouderbala spoke about three significant historical stages in Tunisia's history. The first stage was during the protectorate period, when nearly 1,000 Sfax residents were martyred in a single day defending their city. The second stage was during World War II, followed by the state's shift towards investing in education, which led to the development of several national skills. The third stage was the digital revolution and the significant growth of social media usage.
Bouderbala Emphasizes Tunisia's Tripartite System
Bouderbala highlighted the tripartite structure of Tunisia's political system, which consists of three independent and harmonious functions, as outlined in the Constitution. He emphasized that deputies are free to express their opinions and views and are responsible for studying bills before making decisions.
Bouderbala Expresses Pride in ARP's Performance
Bouderbala expressed pride in the Assembly's performance, both in its legislative function through the presentation of proposals and the study of bills, as well as its oversight function through oral and written questions addressed to government members in the interest of the general public.
Bouderbala Calls for Key Role in Legislative Development
In response to journalists' questions, Bouderbala stated that the parliamentary institution is capable of playing a key role in developing urgent legislation, while encouraging the government to publish necessary decrees, particularly regarding the revision of the public markets system. He added that Sfax represents a scientific and economic beacon capable of becoming a growth driver, estimating that supporting and developing these orientations would yield optimal benefits for the entire country, from north to south, provided that other governorates benefit from this experience to ensure global and balanced development.
Families Honored
The family of the late Deputy Dr. Nabih Tabet was honored by the ARP President and the Governor of Sfax, Mohamed Hajri, as well as the family of the late Saad Ouertani, a Sfax West delegate, in recognition of their dedication to serving the public interest.
