Court Rulings Against Market Intermediaries and Suppliers
The correctional chamber of the Court of First Instance of Ben Arous delivered primary judgments yesterday, Thursday, ranging from two to seven years of firm imprisonment and financial fines between 50,000 and 100,000 dinars, against 11 arrested individuals. These individuals are intermediaries ("Habbata") and suppliers of markets.
Background and Arrests
The previous week, the public prosecutor's office near the Court of First Instance of Ben Arous had issued detention warrants against these 11 sales brokers ("Habbata") who were arrested by agents from the sub-directorate of economic and financial investigations of the judicial police directorate of El Gorjani. These arrests are part of a national campaign aimed at combating monopoly, speculation in markets, and price manipulation.
