Security Operation Seizes Large Quantity of Drugs and Cash in Kairouan
A security operation carried out at dawn on Wednesday by the Judicial Research Brigade of the National Guard of Kairouan City, supported by regional units, resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of narcotics and a significant sum of money.
According to security sources, officers intercepted two light vans carrying 58 cannabis bricks (zatla), weighing approximately 6.8 kg in total, as well as around 100,000 Tunisian dinars in cash. Both vehicles were impounded.
The raid was part of a targeted operation at the residence of a suspected trafficker in Chwayhiya, within the Cherarda delegation, following intelligence gathering and on‑the‑ground surveillance.
An investigation has been opened to identify the individuals involved and to determine the possible links of this drug‑trafficking network.
