Health Authorities Seize Large Quantity of Poultry Meat in Gafsa
The health authorities in Gafsa carried out a seizure of a significant quantity of poultry meat and its by-products in a clandestine slaughterhouse located in the city center on the night of Wednesday, October 22. This facility was operating outside of any legal framework, without respecting hygiene and food preservation standards.
According to Omar Abdelli, Regional Director of the Regional Authority for Food Safety, the seizure concerns 530 kg of poultry meat and 23 kg of chicken liver. The control teams found slaughter and storage conditions that did not conform to sanitary standards, potentially putting consumers' health at risk.
An investigation report has been established, and the owner of the slaughterhouse has been presented to justice. The authorities emphasize the importance of vigilance and compliance with food safety regulations, reminding that the sale of products from non-approved sites can lead to serious health risks.
