Judge Orders Provisional Detention of Eight Individuals in Large-Scale Drug Trafficking Case
At the end of last week, the investigating judge at the Court of First Instance of Sousse 1 ordered the provisional detention of eight individuals as part of a vast drug trafficking case. These arrests come after an investigation into the seizure of approximately 400 kilograms of cannabis (zatla) at one of the ports in Sousse. In total, nearly twenty-five people have been questioned by investigators.
According to Mosaïque Fm, the arrested individuals are being prosecuted for several charges, including:
- Forming a criminal organization active in Tunisia and abroad
- Importing narcotics for commercialization and distribution
- Money laundering
The investigation is ongoing to identify any potential additional accomplices.
As a reminder, the Central Brigade for Combating Narcotics of the National Guard at El Aouina successfully intercepted a shipment of nearly 400 kg of cannabis hidden in one of the ports of Sousse on September 27, 2025. The operation, carried out based on precise information, was supervised by the National Guard's leadership and the Sousse 1 prosecutor's office.
