Tunisian Institution Ranks 7th in Arab World for Research Excellence
The Institution of Agricultural Higher Education and Research (IRESA), under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, has achieved 7th place in the Arab world among 317 participating research institutions. This result is part of the fourth edition of the SCImago ranking of Arab research centers for the year 2025.
According to a statement published by the Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday evening, three Tunisian scientific research institutions have successfully ranked among the top 15 Arab research centers. This performance confirms the solidity of the national scientific research system and its ability to be competitive at the regional level.
The official announcement of the results took place during a ceremony organized in Egypt, as part of an international scientific partnership that includes:
- The Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (FASRC)
- The global publishing house Elsevier
- The SCImago organization
- The Egyptian Knowledge Bank
- The Ministry of Agriculture
The ministry specifies in its statement that IRESA's maintenance in the top 10 Arab rankings is "the culmination of continuous scientific work. It reflects the quality of research production in the agricultural and environmental fields, as well as the effectiveness of public policies supporting research and innovation in Tunisia."
This achievement highlights the prominent place that Tunisian skills and institutions now occupy on the Arab scientific map. It also opens up broad perspectives for strengthening regional and international partnerships, and for attracting projects and funding to serve sustainable development, food sovereignty, and the national economy.
