Participants at a working meeting held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, focused on monitoring the situation of drinking water supply in schools, adopted a set of measures to ensure access to water, particularly in rural areas.
These measures include the conclusion of framework agreements for the periodic maintenance of water facilities in rural educational institutions, in addition to other agreements aimed at ensuring the supply of drinking water by filling water reservoirs in schools, according to a statement published by the ministry.
They also include the acceleration of studies to create deep wells for the benefit of non-supplied institutions, as well as the organization of awareness days to inform people about how to operate and maintain hydraulic equipment.
On this occasion, the Secretary of State for Water, who chaired the meeting, emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of programmed projects in the national plan to supply rural schools with drinking water.
He stressed the importance of establishing good governance in water resource management with regular updating of data, in addition to setting up a joint monitoring mechanism between the Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development and the Regional Delegations for Education, in order to ensure equipment maintenance, according to the same source.
