Special Transportation Plan for the 2025-2026 Academic Year
The Ministry of Transport has announced a special plan in coordination with national and regional land transport companies to ensure the availability of fleets and improve school and university transportation through a maintenance and vehicle renewal program.
Key Objectives and Statistics
- The number of students and pupils transported is expected to increase by 10% compared to the previous season.
- The number of subscribers is expected to progress by around 6%.
- A total of 2,743 buses will be dedicated to school and university transportation, representing approximately 65% of the national fleet.
- 2,170 bus lines will be reserved for students and pupils, out of a total of 3,133 lines covering the entire territory.
Transtu: Significant Improvement in Availability
- Transtu expects a 53% increase in the availability of its buses, reaching around 750 vehicles.
- The offer for school and university transportation will increase by 20%, a significant increase compared to the previous back-to-school season.
Regional Companies: 69% Availability Rate
- The overall availability rate of regional companies will reach 69%.
- Their fleet dedicated to school and university transportation will benefit from a 6% increase, strengthening coverage in the governorates.
Railway Network and Electric Trains
- On the railway side, the Tunis Transport Company (Transtu - metro and TGM) will make 60 trains available, compared to 56 last year.
- The SNCFT will align 14 electric trains, contributing to absorbing the expected increase in the number of passengers.
Objective: A Smooth and Secure Back-to-School Season
- The Ministry of Transport affirms that these measures aim to guarantee a back-to-school season in the best conditions, by reducing the difficulties encountered by users and improving the quality of public transportation services.
