Date: May 17, 2026
The Saudi Supreme Court has issued a call for observers to look up at the sky and attempt to spot the crescent moon marking the beginning of the month of Dhul-Hijja. In a statement, the Court specified that the observation should take place on the 29th day of Dhul-Qi’da 1447 of the Hijri calendar, corresponding to May 17, 2026.
The institution invites anyone who is able to see the crescent moon, whether with the naked eye or with the aid of observation instruments, to present themselves before the nearest jurisdiction to record their testimony, or to contact local authorities to be directed to the relevant structure.
