Coinciding with Buy Nothing Day, Which Takes Place on the Last Saturday of November Every Year
The Tunisian Consumer Information Organization (OTIC) has called on all citizens to reevaluate their consumption habits and reclaim their ability to make free and responsible economic decisions, away from advertising and commercial pressures.
OTIC has urged citizens to refrain from buying non-essential products on this day, to assess the impact of advertisements and commercial offers on their purchasing behavior, while establishing a clear family budget and distinguishing between needs and luxury products.
The organization has also called for support of Tunisian products, which strengthen economic sovereignty, and to report commercial abuses through OTIC's channels or specialized structures.
OTIC has emphasized that protecting purchasing power is a shared responsibility between the consumer, producer, service providers, and control authorities. According to the organization, the informed consumer is the first line of defense against unjustified price increases and unbalanced consumption patterns that harm the economy and society.
OTIC has reiterated its commitment to raising awareness, monitoring abuses, and defending consumer rights, so that this day becomes an annual appointment to root the culture of rational and responsible consumption.
