Proposal for a Regional Trade Fair
The Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Obeid, has proposed the creation of a trade fair in Algiers that would bring together products from Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, and Libya. According to him, this initiative would contribute to food security and strengthen regional economic integration.
Meeting with Algerian and Mauritanian Ministers
During a meeting with the Algerian Minister of External Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, and the Mauritanian Minister of Trade and Tourism, Zeinab Ahmednah, Samir Obeid emphasized the importance of developing common partnerships and implementing joint projects. He also defined a new vision for the future of relations between countries in the region, as stated in a ministry press release.
Held on the Sidelines of the Intra-African Trade Fair
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Intra-African Trade Fair, held in Algiers from September 4 to 10, 2025. Discussions focused on cooperation prospects between Tunisia, Algeria, and Mauritania, as well as ways to boost economic and trade exchanges to increase the volume of intraregional trade.
Presidential Visit
Meanwhile, the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, visited Algiers on Thursday to attend the official inauguration of the trade fair, at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
