Saied Insists on Sending Urgent Aid and Restructuring Social Funds
The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, received Issam Lahmar, Minister of Social Affairs, on Thursday, November 27, at the Carthage Palace. During this meeting, the Head of State emphasized the need to send urgent aid to several regions, stating that they must benefit from equitable development and have access to all essential services. He specified that this action does not concern only one area, but the entire country.
Kais Saied recalled that people considered marginalized are not so by nature, but are victims of policies implemented over several decades that have led to exclusion, poverty, and impoverishment. He also insisted on the imperative of finding solutions to finance social funds and enable them to fully fulfill their mission, while calling for their restructuring.
Moreover, the President of the Republic indicated that the draft budget law for next year, which provides for a salary increase, is not exceptional. He recalled that similar measures were already included in the budget laws of 1973, 1974, 1975, and 1976. Kais Saied affirmed that the State must fully assume its social responsibilities and that efforts are underway in all sectors and regions to guarantee the conditions of dignity, social justice, and equitable development.
