Abdelaziz El Harrabi Confirms Regional Self-Sufficiency in Livestock for Eid al-Adha
Abdelaziz El Harrabi, president of the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fisheries in Tataouine, confirmed to Mosaïque FM that the region is self-sufficient in livestock for Eid al-Adha. With approximately 26,000 heads of sheep and goats available, the region's usual demand of around 22,000 heads is met.
Current prices for a medium-sized sheep range from 900 to 1,600 dinars, while larger specimens can cost up to 2,000 dinars. According to the president of the Union, the selling price per kilogram is expected to be between 28 and 30 dinars, a tariff considered fair for farmers. This pricing is pending official validation.
In contrast to last year, the majority of producers have retained their herds for this season.
