According to a report by the Najia center of the Aswat Nisaa (Women's Voices) organization, violence against women, particularly domestic violence, has increased between January and June 2025. The center's data shows that the majority of victims of violence who received support during this period were single women (51%), followed by married women (32%), while widows and divorced women represented 17%.
However, when comparing these figures to the same period the previous year (2024), the report reveals a reversal of trends: the category most affected by violence in the first half of 2025 was married women (46%), ahead of single women (42%). Regarding the types of violence, psychological violence tops the list, representing 32% of documented cases. It is followed by physical violence (28%) and sexual violence (16%). The report also highlights a significant increase in sexual violence: this figure has risen from 5% in 2023 to 16% in 2025.
