Popular Demonstration Held in Tunis in Support of President Kaïs Saïed

A popular demonstration was held this Wednesday on Habib Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis, in support of the "July 25 process" and President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed. This event, organized at the call of political parties and activists, coincides with the 15th anniversary of the Revolution.

The Rally

The rally, which began in front of the Municipal Theater, saw the participation of politicians, parliamentarians, and official figures, including the President of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP), Brahim Bouderbala. The demonstrators chanted slogans refusing "any foreign interference in the Tunisian sovereign decision" and calling for accountability for those they qualify as "traitors" and "agents".

December 17: The "Real" Date of the Revolution

The participants reaffirmed their support for the state policy engaged since July 25, 2021, considering that the real date of the Tunisian Revolution is December 17 (the outbreak in Sidi Bouzid) and not January 14.

Statements from Officials

Brahim Bouderbala, present at the scene, stated: "My presence today alongside the people aims to celebrate the revolution of December 17, but also to listen to them directly. The essential thing is that Tunisia is on the right track and that the social state responds to the expectations of all Tunisians." He also invited citizens to examine the finance law to discover the ambitious social programs.

Fight Against "Plots" and "Sclerotic" Administration

MP Abdelaziz Chaabani, on his part, called for facing those who try to destabilize the country, evoking "invisible hands that weave plots from abroad". He emphasized that the achievements since July 25 are in perfect harmony with the Tunisians' will to national salvation.

Call for Ministerial Reshuffle

Houssem Ben Ahmed, president of the political bureau of the July 25 Movement, called for a rapid ministerial reshuffle to appoint personalities in line with the president's reformative vision. He pointed to the "sclerosis of the Tunisian administration", which he considers a major obstacle to investment and development.

Calls for Settlement of Social Files

While supporting the president, some demonstrators expressed urgent social expectations. Saoussen Hamdi, a leader in the "Coordination of Unemployed Doctors", hailed the country's salvation by Kaïs Saïed while criticizing the "gaps in government action". She called on the head of state to intervene personally to render justice to long-term unemployed individuals.

President's Night Visit

It is worth noting that President Kaïs Saïed personally visited Habib Bourguiba Avenue in the early hours of dawn on Wednesday, just before the start of the demonstration. Videos circulating on social media show him surrounded by citizens expressing their support.
