Early Pension Payments Ahead of Eid Al Adha
As Eid Al Adha approaches, the pension payment schedule has been exceptionally advanced. If the rent increase is confirmed for May 2026, the payment of retroactive benefits remains uncertain due to the financial constraints of the pension funds.
On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, a representative of the UGTT announced on Jawhara FM that emergency measures would be taken to support the purchasing power of retirees before the Eid Al Adha festivities.
Advanced Payment Schedule
To meet this deadline, the representative announced that pensions for May will be paid in advance as of this week. "This exceptional measure applies without distinction to beneficiaries paid by bank transfer or via La Poste tunisienne." Thus, insured individuals affiliated with the CNSS can access their pensions as early as Thursday, May 21, 2026, while those affiliated with the CNRPS will receive their payment the following day, Friday, May 22, 2026.
In parallel, "the increase in pensions takes effect immediately on this month's transfers," the representative clarified. He added that beneficiaries of old-age pensions will see their rent increase by 5% as of May 2026. Meanwhile, recipients of the indemnity forfaitaire, initially set at 260 dinars, will now receive 280 dinars following a 20-dinar increase. This measure also includes a retroactive effect applicable from January 2026.
Uncertainty Surrounding Retroactive Payments
However, if these increases are confirmed, the payment of retroactive benefits for the past four months remains uncertain due to the financial constraints of the pension funds. The CNRPS has indicated that the effort required to advance the payment of May pensions may delay the payment of these retroactive benefits. The CNSS has not yet provided any official information on the payment schedule for these arrears.
