International Tourism and Omra Exhibition Opens in Tunis
Madame Ghofrane Sahli, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, accompanied by Mr. Mohamed El Mahdi Hellali, Director General of the Tunisian National Tourism Office, inaugurated the fourth edition of the International Tourism and Omra Exhibition in Tunis. The event took place on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Convention Center in the capital.
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony was attended by Madame Laila El Meslati, Director General of the National Office of Handicrafts, Mr. Ahmed Belattayeb, President of the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies, and Mr. Sami Saidane, Vice President of the federation, as well as several Saudi tourism sector agents.
Importance of the Exhibition
In her welcome speech, the Chief of Staff emphasized the importance of this exhibition as a platform for presenting services offered to pilgrims. She stated that the ministry is working to organize the Omra ritual in the best possible way and to provide the best conditions for a successful season. She also stressed the need to sign an Omra contract before departure to guarantee the rights of the pilgrim and the travel agency.
Ministry's Efforts
She mentioned that the ministry has prepared a brochure titled "How to Perform Omra" which will be distributed to all pilgrims traveling to the Sacred House of God. Additionally, a scientific committee has been tasked with publishing a book dedicated to Omra. She also explained that the Ministry of Religious Affairs is working in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies to train religious guides who will accompany and guide pilgrims.
Exhibition Participation
Organized by the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies, the exhibition saw a large participation of accredited travel agencies from Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and other countries. Hotels, airlines, professionals from the National Office of Handicrafts, as well as entrepreneurs from startups specializing in the field were also present.
